The Beauty of Miao Silver

October 19, 2015

Miao silver dates back to ancient times when it was used as a form of currency. After that the Hmong people turned their hand to making all kinds of jewelry and ornaments, and so appeared Miao silverware which is now widely renowned.

Miao silverware is different from other silver jewelry, with a unique beauty all its own. Miao jewellery embodies the towering beauty of their mountains and their vast open waters.

One finished silver product needs to go through more than 20 steps. Silversmiths first melt the silver into sheets, blocks or wires.  Using a variety of techniques they carve, weld, stretch and beat out exquisite patterns before assembling the finished piece.
